What Pledging Means

  • What Pledging Means to KD Sisters

Participating in Fall or Spring Recruitment is an exciting time for both the girls going through and also the sisters in each house. Below are some reflections and advice from our current sisters about their experiences going through Recruitment and the New Member Pledging Process.

"Pledging KD meant so much to me. I started the process with 13 other strangers and I didn't even know their names. It wasn't long before these strangers began to touch my heart as they became not only my best friends, but sisters. We learned everything there is to know about each other: what makes us happy, what we can't stand, what our worst fears are and our goals in life. Now, I KNOW, no matter what, I have so many amazing girls that will have my back, be a shoulder to cry on, be there to share a laugh and be there to pick me up when I fall. And I would undoubtedly do the exact same for any of them. The bond of sisterhood is truly that strong."

"I always knew that I wanted to pledge a sorority in college, but I never imagined that joining Kappa Delta would change me the way that it did. Recruitment was a stressful week, but every night I walked into the Kappa Delta House I knew it was where I belonged. Kappa Delta has become such an amazing experience and made me a better person.  My pledge class are my sisters, they know me better than I know myself. They are there for me when I'm at my worst and they are celebrating with me at my best. The chapter has shown me what it means to be a loyal friend and a true sister. Pledging Kappa Delta has given me a sense of pride not only in my sorority, but in myself. The experience of the Pledging Process has given me confidence that I can be successful and taught me to strive to be the best version of myself. Kappa Delta will forever and always be in my heart and I will always be thankful for the amazing memories it has given me. "

"I found the pledging process to be very beneficial so I really got to know my pledge class. I hardly knew any of the girls in my pledge class and now they are definitely some of my best friends. Without pledging I don't know if I would feel such a strong bond with those in S2K11 so I am very thankful for it!"
